Secondary Faculty Weekly Memo

29 November 2024

FROM THE OFFICE

Dear Parents and Learners

Before we end the year, please ensure that all learners are signed up for the Summer Sport season and that the indemnity forms for the Grade Camps in February have been returned.

Please note that learners are expected to be at school on Monday to check their answer sheets.  A programme for the day has been shared in the Learner Daily Notes.  The day will end at 12:00.

On Tuesday, learners do not need to come to school, but we will have a venue available for those who do arrive.

On Wednesday, 4 December, the learners will be able to enjoy the Staff Play at 10:00.  We invite them to dress up as a Christmas bauble or anything else you would find on a Christmas tree. Prizes will be awarded to the ones with the most creative outfits.

Dismissal will be at 11:00.

Festive Season

We wish all our learners, parents and staff a peaceful and joyous Festive Season.

We look forward to an exciting 2025, but for now ... let's enjoy a well-deserved break and recharge our batteries for the new academic year.

Farewell to Mr Pillay

Mr Pillay joined the College in 2012 to establish the Engineering Graphics and Design Department and within a short period of time, we became one of the top-performing schools in the Western Cape, in EGD.

In 2018, he was appointed Head of Secondary Sport and his commitment and passion led to tremendous growth in our Sports Department.  He organised and coordinated numerous tours - both locally and internationally - and ensured that we became competitive in all the sports we offered.

He has worked tirelessly to find Derby partners, bringing many visitors to our campus by hosting various tournaments.

Thank you, Mr Pillay, for everything you have done for Sport at the College.  Go well.

CONCLUSION

At the end of this year I want to share this lovely message by Alex Molteno, Principal at Llandudno Primary:  “Think of this time as the final chapter of a remarkable book we’ve authored together - a chapter that brings resolution, joy and anticipation for the sequel.”

May you celebrate all you have accomplished and be excited about what is to come.  See you in 2025!
